Take a plain selfie

Stand facing a light-coloured wall with daylight on your face. Phone camera at arm's length is fine.

US passport, Schengen visa, UK driving licence, China 一寸 — the exact millimetres and head height are built in.

Why people use IDShot instead of a photo booth

Your face stays on your device

Every pixel is processed by JavaScript running in your own browser. There is no upload endpoint — turn off your Wi-Fi after the page loads and it still works.

The measurements are the product

Rejections almost always come from head height or eye position, not from the photo itself. IDShot targets the middle of the official range every time, and stamps the correct DPI into the file.

One price, not per photo

$4.90 once. Re-crop for another country, another family member, another year — no extra charge, no subscription, no account to cancel.

Print sheets included

Get a 4×6 inch sheet with six or eight copies and cut guides. Any drugstore or supermarket kiosk will print it for about a dollar.

Instant, at 2 a.m.

No appointment, no queue, no “come back tomorrow”. Useful when a visa portal wants a photo tonight.

Questions people ask before paying

Will my photo actually be accepted?

IDShot places your head at the middle of the officially permitted range for the document you pick, uses the required background colour, and exports at the right pixel size and DPI. That covers the reasons photos are normally rejected.

What it cannot fix is the source photo: bad lighting, a hat, glasses with glare, a smile, or a busy background behind you. The compliance checklist warns you about those before you pay. If a photo made with IDShot is rejected for a reason we should have caught, email us and we refund you.

Is my photo uploaded to a server?

No. The face detection, background removal and cropping all run as WebAssembly inside your browser tab. The only network requests the page makes are for the page itself, the model files, and — if you choose to pay — the payment provider. You can verify this in your browser's Network tab, or just switch to aeroplane mode after the page has loaded.

What do I get for $4.90?

The watermark comes off, and you can download the photo as a full-resolution JPG or PNG with the correct DPI baked in, plus a print sheet (4×6, 5×7 or A4) with cut marks. It is a one-time payment on this device — you can make as many photos, for as many countries and people, as you like.

Can I print these at a drugstore?

Yes — that is what the print sheet is for. Download the 4×6 inch sheet, upload it to any photo kiosk or print service as a normal 4×6 print, and cut along the guides. Make sure the print dialog is set to 100% or “actual size”, not “fit to page”, or the millimetres will be wrong.

What makes a good source photo?

Face a window during the day, stand about half a metre in front of a plain light wall, and have someone take the photo from roughly two metres away at eye level. Keep a neutral expression with your mouth closed, both eyes open and ears visible. Avoid a phone's ultra-wide lens — it distorts faces.

Which countries are supported?

Over fifty documents including the US passport, visa and green card, the UK passport and driving licence, Schengen visas, Canada, Australia, India, China, Japan, South Korea, Singapore, Brazil and the generic ICAO 35×45 mm standard. Browse the full list.

Do you offer refunds?

Yes. If the tool does not work for you, or your photo is rejected for a measurement problem, email us within 30 days and you get your money back. See the refund policy.
